The Vivostat® idea was conceived in 1992 by a group of Danish researchers looking for a simple and fully automated way of preparing fibrin sealant, onsite and from the patient’s own blood. A multitude of specialists from three continents continued to mature the idea by developing and testing of the unique Vivostat® system.

During the development phase, the intellectual property's right owner, Bristol-Meyers Squibb, decided to divest the Vivostat® project and as a natural consequence the company Vivolution A/S was formed. In 2001, Vivolution A/S launched the Vivostat® system together with the product Vivostat® Fibrin Sealant and in 2005 a second generation platelet product Vivostat® PRF (Platelet Rich Fibrin) was added to the product line. In May 2008 Vivolution A/S decided to change the company name to Vivostat A/S to focus all corporate and product related communication around the successful Vivostat® brand name.

Today, the Vivostat® system and the advanced blood processing technology has been further developed and a wide range of Vivostat® products are used on a daily basis in numerous surgical departments and wound care centres across Europe and Asia. The idea has come to life!
